Lasercut Model Airport Gate (Terminal)

10-801-Model-Airport-Gate---Instructions-0New years day, sitting looking out the window, watching my son playing with his Lego 60022 Cargo Plane he got for Christmas when I decided I would try and build a Lasercut Model Airport Gate.  I think it turned out decent enough to call it a success even if I cut a few too many wheels the first time.

I began by loading my favourite 3D modelling application and started drafting away.  The design process took about 4 hours including a stop for dinner.  30 minutes of time was then required on my Full Spectrum Laser Cutter.  My stock material was a piece of 20″ x 12″ 3mm Hardboard which I purchased at Home Depot for a mere $3.10.  That was actually for a 4′ x 2′ piece, which means the model actually cost less than $1.00 if you include the glue I used to assemble it!  if you calculate in the cost of the laser cutter time though the price probably goes way up!

Completed Dimensions:

Length:  22 cm
Width:  20 cm
Height:  11.5 cm
